Judy Ann Santos is making her primetime teleserye comeback, and it's going to be one for the books!

After years of portraying lead roles, the actress will now be playing an antagonistic role in the upcoming family drama series “Starla.”

During the series’ grand media launch held last Saturday, September 28, members of the press got the chance to ask the veteran star over her preparations for her role as Teresa.

According to Judy Ann, her character was based on Miranda Priestly, the fierce boss played by Meryl Streep in the Hollywood movie adaptation of the novel “The Devil Wears Prada.”

She shared, “‘Yung sa ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ ‘Yun ‘yung peg namin. Nagfi-fit siya sa character ni Teresa kasi may story behind kung bakit naging ganoon siya katigas. Postura, matapang sa loob, matapang sa labas pero ‘yung loob niya, shinishield lang niya because of the pain na bitbit ng puso niya.”

“Gusto ko ‘yung ginawa ni kumareng Meryl doon! Bonggang-bongga ‘yung suot niya. Kailangan ma-achieve ko siya!”

Judy Ann also considers the role to be one of its kind, saying that it is the most “despicable” she has ever been for a project.

She stated, “Sa lahat ng roles na ginawa ko, ito 'yung, well, pinakabago dahil pinakamasamang role na ginawa ko. Naghanda ako ng outfits, may glam team ako.”

The actress continued, “Pinakamahirap dito ‘yung dialogue, abogado kasi. Napaka-critical ng mga lines, kailangan tama ‘yung English mo. Pangalawa, dapat tama ‘yung legal terms na ginagamit sa eksena. Doon ako pinakamahirapan.“

“I was really struggling because I haven’t done a teleserye for five years. Bagong-bago siya sa akin,” she ended.

“Starla” will premiere on primetime this Monday, October 7, right after “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

Juday last appeared alongside Angelica Panganiban on the 2018 comedy flick "Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes."
