There’s something so attractive about the bossy, tortured, bad boy types, even if you know (deep inside your heart) that they couldn’t possibly be good for you.
The prime examples of this male archetype are Miggy Montenegro from the 2008 classic “A Very Special Love” played by the nation’s boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz, and Lee Young Joon from the wildly entertaining 2018 Korean drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” portrayed by rising superstar Park Seo Joon.
And though these two shows are exactly 10 years apart, we found so many similarities between Miggy and Mr. Lee. So prepare to swoon and go kilig over and over again as we enumerate all the reasons they’re oh-so-lovable and irresistible.
1. They’re both perfectionists
Both Miggy and Mr. Lee take their jobs (and themselves) way too seriously. They want everything to go as planned, and they expect everyone to have the same (impossible) standards as they do.
This trait leads to A LOT of resentment from their co-workers… but it also earns them so many points from girls precisely because of the same attitude so… paano ba?
2. They’re both clueless when it comes to love
Because they’re too focused on thinking about themselves and keeping everything perfect, they’re not exactly the most ideal lovers out there. But there’s also something so endearing by their cluelessness that it just makes you love them more!
3. They both have dark pasts
Miggy is the black sheep of his family because he’s an illegitimate child, while Mr. Lee is traumatized because of a kidnapping incident that happened when he was younger.
Their dark pasts just make us want to take care of them (and love them and be with them forever… charot!).
In conclusion, both Miggy and Mr. Lee deserve all the heart-eyed emojis in the world! 😍😍😍😍
We also compared Kenji (Daniel Padilla from “She’s Dating the Gangster”) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo from “To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before”), which you can read here. (https://starcinema.abs-cbn.com/2018/9/7/news/5-reasons-kenji-delos-reyes-is-the-filipino-peter-43290)
Missing John Lloyd? His last big screen appearance was “Finally Found Someone” in 2017 with Sarah Geronimo, which you can check out on iwantv.com.ph. He’s currently on an indefinite leave from showbiz, and is enjoying his free time with rumored fiance Ellen Adarna and their first son (https://starcinema.abs-cbn.com/2018/7/13/news/spotted-jlc-taong-tao-sa-cebu-41596).
Meanwhile, you can watch PSJ in the Tagalized version of "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim," which will air on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida starting September 24.
