May tatalo pa ba sa unang pag-ibig? The answer is a definite no if the quotes and the films above have any say on the matter. First love is always the best, the worst, the brightest, and ika nga ng lola mong hinihintay pa rin bumalik 'yung sa kanya, it never dies.
First loves also make for some compelling big-screen outings. Who can forget the magic of Laida's (Sarah Geronimo) complete dedication to Miggy (John Lloyd Cruz) in "A Very Special Love", or Patchot (Kathryn Bernardo) and Ivan's (Daniel Padilla) sweet and innocent romance in "Must Be...Love"? What about Drake (Enrique Gil) and Sophia's (Liza Soberano) heartbreaking (and in the end, uplifting) story of firsts in "Just The Way You Are"? Of course, we'll never sleep on the friends-turned-lovers trope. There's BFFs Manuel (John Lloyd) and Marian (Bea Alonzo) from "Close to You" who fell painstakingly slowly in love, and the iconic Mae (Kim Chiu) and Bogs (Gerald Anderson) from "Paano Na Kaya" who mucked up a perfect friendship by falling for each other. And the firsts don't end there.
Direk Paul Soriano's upcoming romantic drama "First Love" is coming to cinemas this October 17, under TEN17P together with Star Cinema and Viva Films. Starring Aga Muhlach and Bea Alonzo, it will explore a different facet to falling in love (and falling hard) the very first time and how fundamentally it can change you.
