Professional Speakers Day: 3 speeches from Star Cinema that touched our hearts!

There are so many ways to convey how we feel to the special people in our lives: Carefully written notes, meticulously painted drawings, achingly sweet songs, but there’s something about spoken declarations that touch the deepest part of our hearts.

It could be because their words are given to us straight from what’s in their minds - there’s not much thinking involved - just pure, raw feelings.

And to celebrate Professional Speakers Day today, August 7, we give you three of the most compelling speeches given in Star Cinema movies that will make you stop, and just listen to what they have to say:

1. Ronald’s (John Lloyd Cruz) graduation speech in “The Trial:”

“Sabi nina Nanay at Tatay, lahat daw tayo parang halaman: nalalanta, namamatay.

2. Miggy’s (John Lloyd) proposal speech in “It Takes a Man and a Woman:”

“Laida, all my life, my pursuit has always been to be the best, to be number one. And now all I want for you is to feel that you’re number one for me, and that you will always be my only one. I love you, Laida Magtalas. This is the man I want to be, and for the first time in my life, I want to be last. I want to be the last man you’ll ever love. Can I be that man?”

3. Vivian’s (Vilma Santos) life lessons in “Everything About Her:”

“Five months ago, sabi ng mga doktor, I’ve got less than a month to live. But I remembered, I already had years. It’s fun to be 35 and gorgeous, ano pa ang dapat kong gawin?

In the end, even if we die alone, we need other people. Tayong lahat, kailangan natin ng konting pag-unawa, konting pagmamahal. So ‘wag na nating pahirapan ang isa’t isa. Let’s be easy on each other, kinder, gentler, more generous.

I just have one last memo for all of you: ‘pag wala na ako dito, gusto ko pa ring makita ang mga ngiting ‘yan. ‘Wag kayong iiyak ‘pag naaalala niyo ako. I want that smile, dahil ang ibig sabihin nun, I did something right in my life.”
