National Sisters' Day: The funniest, most touching, and intense moments from ‘Four Sisters and a Wedding’

By Chandral Selim and Regina Tabora

Sisters: They “borrow” our clothes, pry on our love lives, basically drive us crazy, but they’ve always got our backs no matter what happens.

And of course, nothing describes the crazy experience of having a sister better than “Four Sisters and a Wedding.”

Beloved by literally EVERYONE, this movie is always a blast to rewatch - but it’s definitely more special this time because today, August 4, is National Sisters’ Day!

Let’s celebrate by looking back on the Salazar sisters’ best moments:

1. “CJ! Magpabaga ka naaaa!”

Bobbie (Bea Alonzo) and Teddy (Toni Gonzaga) finally reunite with their siblings Alex (Angel Locsin), Gabby (Shaina Magdayao), and CJ (Enchong Dee) after years of working abroad.

Old wounds which didn’t quite heal right, and new connections struggling to meld with family dynamics complicate the whole thing, but whoever said family drama isn’t entertaining obviously hasn’t watched this movie.

2. “Princess Antoinette May Bayag!”

The Bayags and the Salazars finally meet and it’s as hilariously awkward as you’d expect future in-law meetings go. The staged entrances, the Under the Sea wedding theme, and a Carmi Martin with an obnoxious fake Russian accent makes this scene worthy of memorization.

And let’s never sleep on Princess’ (Angeline Quinto) iconic entrance. Speak of the devil, and the devil truly is here.

3. “Palibhasa, hindi ka pa nakakaamoy ng bayag.”

The Salazar sisters try to sniff out some dirt on the Bayags (eww, that sentence did not sound right) to find a way to stop Princess and CJ’s impending wedding. This is the Teddy, Bobbie, Alex, and Gabby at their best: scheming, but with the best intentions at heart.

Also. The Bayag puns. We live for that!

4. “‘Wag mo akong Ingles-Inglesin!”

Oh yesss, the confrontation before THE confrontation! While heartbreaking, this scene is pretty cathartic. Finally, Bobby and Alex address the huge elephant in the room: the fact that they share one man in their romantic history.

And of course, we can’t sing enough praises for Angel and Bea’s acting chops. Your screen will explode because of the sheer talent these two display. What a gift!

5. “I’m sorry, Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”

We can’t say anything about this that hasn’t already been said. There’s a lot of reasons why “Four Sisters and a Wedding” is a modern classic, but this, the final confrontation, Teddy’s big reveal, and Bobbie’s iconic line “Bakit galit ka? Bakit parang kasalanan ko?” truly takes the cake.

This scene will make you flat-out bawl your eyes out. That’s a guarantee.

BONUS

Oh wait, there’s more! Of course we can’t talk about “Four Sisters” without mentioning Angel dragging Mocha Uson to the ground via sabunot. It’s something many have fantasized doing, especially in light of the current political climate, but we can settle for Angel doing what she does best: being a badass.🔥
