20 years later, 'Bata Bata Paano Ka Ginawa?' remains an epitome of women empowerment

20 years ago, August 26, Direk Chito Roño’s groundbreaking film "Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?" hit cinemas nationwide. And today as we celebrate its anniversary, we look back on its greatest achievements: how it challenged the audience’s view of being a woman, how it challenged the meaning of family, and how it astutely showed what it means to be a liberal in a conservative country.

And of course, it won’t be a classic without its memorable cast. “Bata, Bata” starred the iconic Vilma Santos, flanked by Albert Martinez, Ariel Rivera, and talented child stars Carlo Aquino and Serena Dalrymple.
