A four-syllable word, filled with passion and integrity. A beautiful word linked to every Filipino from one generation to another: democracy.
And for almost four decades now, one name has been one of the most important symbols of patriotism in our country.
Today, August 21, as we remember the assassination of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr., let's allow ourselves to go back in time through Lav Diaz' " Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis", a film that is made for the new Juans and Juanas to remember that there is no greater love than the love for one's country.
Even so, for the past years, are we really taking the challenge of protecting what Jose, Andres, and Ninoy had given us? Or just like tin cans on the street, we let the outsiders kick us wherever they want just like what we were before?
