Enrique, Gerald, Erich, Daniel + more: New generation action stars

There's not a lot of things that could get the blood pumping like a good fight scene. Fortunately for us, action movies were invented. And even more importantly, action stars.

Today, we celebrate the actual badassery the four characters below displayed on the big screen which frankly, inspired us to be better at throwing a punch, and also made us wish to God we will never get kidnapped, or get involved in a syndicate, or you know, die. Get to know them here:

1. Enrique Gil's Carlo in "Dukot"

"Dukot" is one of those films which are so close to reality that watching it just gives you chills. It tells the story of Carlo, the son of a public servant who gets kidnapped by a bunch of morally gray criminals.

His big badass moment came when he tried to escape their little hovel from hell (he failed, but it's really the guts that count).

2. Gerald Anderson's Daniel and Joel Torre's Tatang in "On The Job"

"OTJ" was a standout when it was first released in 2013, and it remains to be a cult favorite. Iconic for its graphic violence and of course, Gerald's tattooed knuckles.

Perhaps Daniel's big badass moment was his knife fight with his gigantic prison nemesis.

It was hard to choose Tatang's, but we decided on his last kill: his wife's boyfriend.

3. Vice Ganda's Gandarra, Daniel Padilla's Rappido, and Pia Wurtzbach's Kweenie in "Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad"

What badass list is complete without superheroes? And yes, while "Revenger" was more comedy than action, it did give us some winning moments from Gandarra, Rappido, and Kweenie, who all had their chance to prove their salt as saviors of the world.

4. Erich Gonzales' Kray in "We Will Not Die Tonight"

Based on the trailer, Erich kicked butts in this Richard Somes action flick. Playing the stuntwoman Kray, Erich showed her fearless side in this movie, which has her killing and clawing her way to survival.

“We Will Not Die Tonight” is an official entry to the 2nd annual Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP). It will show in theaters nationwide from August 15 to August 21.
