When life’s got you down, it can be pretty difficult to find the positive side of things. So what can a person do to prevent the negativity from consuming them?
Spoken word artist and actor Juan Miguel Severo was faced with this problem in the latest episode of Bianca Gonzalez’s video series “Paano Ba ‘To?” and he gave a number of sage advice that might help.
His first piece of advice is to have an outlet.
“It helps having something na labas sa trabaho na pwedeng mong gawin, na hindi mo kailangan pagkakitaan, pero something that you can be passionate about. Something you love doing,” he shared.
He listed down several artistic activities as suggestions, such as writing, drawing, or music.
“Sabi nga, ‘yang sining, galing ‘yan sa pag-apaw,” he said. “Every time na may umaapaw, kailangan natin ng bagong container at kung anumang piliin nating art form, ‘yun ang magiging container ng kung anumang umaapaw sa ‘tin.”
His second piece of advice is to remember that there is no such thing as failure, saying, “Ang totoong failure lang is kung wala kang natutunan sa pinagdaanan mo.”
He also advised that one should take the time to feel how they feel in order to understand it better.
“Take time to be lonely,” Juan Miguel said. “It’s not a crime to be lonely, to be devastated sa kung anuman ang pinagdaanan mo.”
“Also, get to know your sadness para kapag dumating ulit ‘yung ganung klaseng kalungkutan, you know how to deal with it better,” he added.
