Maxine Medina has split with her long-term boyfriend, actor Marx Topacio, whom she dated for seven long years.
The former Miss Universe Philippines 2016 confirmed the conscious uncoupling in a recent press conference, saying that she's choosing to focus on her family and newly-minted showbiz career as opposed to love and settling down.
She explained, "Siguro po kasi masyadong nawala ang focus ko kay God. So, parang ngayon talagang nagpo-focus akong mag-pray sa career ko, sa family ko, kasi medyo na-let go ko sila. As much as possible, nagme-make time ako with my family."
"Hindi ko naman tinalikuran [ang love life]," she clarified. "Siyempre, open pa rin ako. Everyone needs love. I just really need to focus saka alam ko na ang priorities ko in life. Tumatanda na rin tayong lahat.
Maxine also insisted that she's in good terms with her ex-boyfriend and that they are still "friends".
"Siguro kailangan namin ng space to love our self first para ma-appreciate namin ang isa’t isa," she said, "We’re friends, okay naman kami. Pero siyempre, sobrang busy ko ngayon, siya rin, sobrang busy niya, sobrang dami niyang ginagawa."
Maxine stars in the upcoming comedy "Kusina Kings" where she plays Baby Girl, Empoy Marquez's love interest. It's her first movie under Star Cinema.
