What does it take to be a star? Here's a #realtalk from Charo

ABS-CBN University President and Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio gave a hard-hitting and inspiring advice to those who are figuring their way in into the entertainment industry.

THOUGHT PICKS: The nice ones don’t have to finish last

Charo herself has climbed through the ladders of showbiz and faced the rigors of the game. Beginning as a production assistant, she worked her way up to becoming the Chief Executive Officer of ABS-CBN in 2012. Apart from that, she is also an actress, a host, and a book author.

In a story by PUSH last Monday, July 16, Charo said, "To begin with, they should have the talent, they should work hard in honing the talent and have the strength of character to face all the challenges in the world of entertainment. Hindi madali, this is not all glamour, this is a lot of hard work, really."

She continued, "Parang many are called but few are chosen. Ganun talaga. You just have to keep trying. Sometimes, hindi mo oras ngayon but who knows 'di ba? If you really want it, it’s in your heart and that’s your passion then never give up."

Moreover, Charo believes that a certain "X Factor" is vital for someone to survive in the cutthroat industry.

"Pero kanya-kanyang panahon 'yan. May kanya-kanyang timing 'yan. It’s what you call the X factor. You should have the X factor, 'yung wala ka pang ginagawa, you’re coming out of the screen na. You know it’s hard to explain. There’s a certain star quality that a person possesses."

Meanwhile, Charo stars in the upcoming Mikhail Red film "Eerie" together with Bea Alonzo.
