Looks like Empoy Marquez suffered some inevitable cooking injuries for his upcoming comedy with Zanjoe Marudo, "Kusina Kings".
The comedian made light of it though, joking to members of the press at the "Kusina Kings" Media Launch last July 14 that he had to "suffer" while filming the movie, where he plays struggling chef and restaurateur Benjie Perez. He said, "Yeah, in the past [I had cooking injuries and] oo, meron din po [in 'Kusina Kings']. Pero kailangan i-suffer for this film."
According to Empoy, his respect for cooks skyrocketed after filling their shoes.
"Kusina Kings" tells the story of easy-go-lucky Ronnie (Zanjoe Marudo) and chef Benjie (Empoy Marquez), high school best friends who have been there for each other through thick and thin. As the restaurant they built with their blood, sweat, and dreams struggles to get off the ground, Benjie takes on the Kusina Kings Challenge where they will either win big or go home with nothing.
It also stars Ryan Bang, Nathalie Hart, and Maxine Medina. Catch it in cinemas this July 25!
