Zanjoe, bilib kay Ryan Bang!

Ryan Bang is showing a different side in his role for the upcoming Zanjoe Marudo-Empoy Marquez comedy, "Kusina Kings".

The comedian, who will play Gian, the kontrabida, in the movie, told members of the press at the "Kusina Kings" Media Launch last July 14 that he took his role very seriously. He said, "Tina-try ko maging serious, kasi nakakatawa naman talaga 'yung mga linya ko kasi sobrang galing ng mga writers sa comedy."

He continued, "Tapos, movie naman ni Kuya Zanjoe at ni Empoy, so dito hindi ako nag-try magpatawa. Focused lan ako sa mga linya, kasi kontrabida po [ako eh], bitter."

Ryan's co-star Zanjoe was very impressed with Ryan's performance, telling reporters: "Ang galing ni Ryan dito kasi seryoso niyang binibitawan lahat ng eksena. Hindi siya nagpapatawa. 'Di ba 'yung kilala nating Ryan lagi siyang may punchline, dito hindi, binitawan at binitawan niya lang lahat [ng linya] na sobrang seryoso]."

The actor enthused, "Kung galit siya mararamdaman mo talagang galit siya, na pag pinapanood mo nakakatawa. Kasi nga sobra siyang seryoso."

"Kusina Kings" marks Ryan's first ever kontrabida role.

"Kusina Kings" tells the story of easy-go-lucky Ronnie and chef Benjie, played to hilarious perfection by Zanjoe Marudo and Empoy Marquez, high school best friends who have been there for each other through thick and thin. As the restaurant they built with their blood, sweat, and dreams struggles to get off the ground, Benjie takes on the Kusina Kings challenge where they will either win big or go home with nothing.

It also stars Nathalie Hart and Maxine Medina. Catch it in cinemas this July 25!
