Former De La Salle University Green Archers Jeron Teng, Norbert Torres, and Thomas Torres are now recovering in the hospital after sustaining stab wounds from a bar fight in BGC yesterday, June 3.
According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the three players were egged on by two older men. They got into a “heated argument” which caused the stabbing.
Netizens uploaded videos of the incident on social media. The two suspects have already been arrested and are facing charges for frustrated homicide and serious physical injuries.
In the same report, Jeron’s older brother Jeric assured that the Alaska Aces rookie is out of immediate harm.
“It was a deep cut. Sa likod pa, tapos sa side din. He’s very lucky dahil pwedeng matamaan ang vital organs niya, buti wala,” he said.
Jeric also disagreed with the claims that the two suspects were only defending themselves.
“Lahat sila... may deep cuts, so how can you say it was self-defense kung lahat ng tama sa kanila?”
Norbert reportedly needed 11 stitches on his left arm, while both Jeron and Thomas are looking at least a month away from basketball to completely heal from their injuries.
Thomas’ brother Axel also asked for prayers for their speedy recovery.
Prior to the incident, Jeron came from a basketball game where his team beat Globalport 109-103.
