"Pinoy Boyband Superstar" alum Tony Labrusca couldn't help but shed tears when he talked about the hardships he went through with his mother, Angel Jones, before he made it in showbiz.
In Tony and Angel's guesting today, June 28 on "Magandang Buhay," Angel first related the story of how their life was back in Canada.
Angel and Tony both worked while they were in Canada to be able to survive. But five years ago, Angel had to go back to the Philippines after her split with her partner, with whom she has one daughter with.
She wanted to bring her two children to the Philippines, but it wasn't easy as she barely had enough money on her own. But things changed when Tony decided to join her here in the country and help her make a living.
"He (Tony) started working. He was doing well. We were helping each other. Nag-focus ako sa kanya and he was working for the both of us," she shared, "Last year, nakuha ko 'yung kapatid niya. So, buo na kami. It took me five years but buo na kami. And it was because of him and our teamwork.
Tony joined the talent search "Pinoy Boyband Superstar," he also booked commercials, and became a part of the ABS-CBN fantaserye "La Luna Sangre".
Tony, pinuri ng mga magulang!
He shared, "Gusto ko lang sabihin na naa-amaze talaga ako kay God. Kasi sometimes hindi niya sinasabi kung 'yes' or 'no'. He just says 'maybe' or 'later.'"
At this point, Tony wasn't able to hold his tears as he related, "Nung bata ako ang wish ko lang is sana magkaroon kami ng bahay. Ngayon naa-amaze ako na kahit hindi kami mayaman nung bata ako, binigyan ako ni Lord ng chance ngayon na ako naman ang mag-provide ng lahat ng mga pinangarap ko nung bata ako."
When asked to give a message to his single mom, the still emotional Tony said, "I just wanted to say thank you for raising me with the best of your ability. 'Yung natutunan ko sa'yo
is sobrang importante na alam ko 'yung self-worth ko. And I'm so happy that while I'm learning how to love myself, you loved me unconditionally. And I'm never gonna let that go. I love you. Thank you so much."
Meanwhile, Angel said, "I'm not perfect. But I know that my role in life is to give hope. To give hope to single moms na you can have a great relationship with your children."
Angel added that she's proud of Tony for staying real amid all that's happening in his life. "People don't know that I have two children, and I raised other kids (those of her ex-partner's). I raised four. But I'm so proud of my son because totoo siya. Hindi siya showbiz. He's a good person and I'm so, so proud of you. Showbiz or flipping burgers, I'm so, so proud of you."
