With her son Thirdy Lacson entering his teenage years, Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria revealed at her bloggers conference last June 20 that the biggest challenge for them is time.
“Ang challenge namin ngayon is time. [I have] my workload. Siya naman regular student and at the same time, he’s an athlete,” she started. “After school, nagte-training sila sa basketball. So ‘yun, sometimes pag-uwi niya, pagod na [siya], or sometimes wala ako sa bahay, so ‘yung challenge is to make our schedules meet.”
“But as much as possible, I really try to keep our communication lines open so that I know what’s going on in his life,” she continued. “And kahit na, kunwari, wala ako sa bahay, involved pa rin ako sa mga nangyayari sa kanya.”
And because he’s about to enter puberty, Thirdy’s bound to notice girls if he doesn’t already. The Daytime Queen was asked if she's ready for the day that her baby boy gets a girlfriend and she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Basta ang usapan namin ni Thirdy, ‘Anak, the only time na maggu-girlfriend ka is ‘pag may trabaho ka na,’” she revealed. “Kailangan mag-work muna siya.”
May point naman si Mommy. 👌
Of course, there’s no rush for Thirdy to grow up. The 36-year-old actress is content with going with the flow, spending as much time as she can with her son and cherishing every moment. Jodi actually shared a little of what it was like to travel with her boy.
“Ang sarap. We get to journey this life together. We get to experience so many things together. We get to experience different cultures and different countries together,” she said. “As a mom, importante sa ‘kin ‘yun na nagde-deposit ako sa memory bank ng anak ko na eventually, ‘pag tumanda siya, meron siyang babalikang good memories naming dalawa.”
When asked if she has discovered anything new about her son on their travels, the “Sana Dalawa Ang Puso” actress revealed that visiting amusement parks isn’t a must for Thirdy.
“Just because he’s kid doesn’t mean na parang sobrang patay na patay siya sa mga amusement parks,” she said. “Whenever we go out of the country, I make sure na kahit papa'no we visit mga amusement parks or theme parks. Pero napansin ko sa kanya [na] it doesn’t really matter as long as we’re together and as long as he really gets to experience ‘yung culture.”
“Mahilig siya sa mga museums,” she added. “Nakakatuwa siya kasi kahit tour guide kinakausap niya. Gusto niya talaga malaman ‘yung history nung lugar, ganyan. Very curious siya.”
