It’s been five years since Ice Seguerra came out as a trans man, but it is only now that he’s considering sex reassignment surgery.
The singer shared on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” yesterday, June 21, that he’s put off transitioning for a while because he didn’t feel like he would need it. However, Ice explained that it’s difficult waking up every single day in the wrong body.
“May pakiramdam na hindi naman dapat ito ‘yun. Sinabi ko ‘yun sa wife ko (Liza Dino) before. Nung una hindi niya din makuha kasi parang, ‘Tanggap naman kita, for me you’re a man.’ It’s not about that. I thank you for accepting me but the problem is me, accepting me,” he said.
Ice is taking the process slowly, and has only begun drinking hormone replacement pills. He also cited his fear of losing his voice.
“People love what they hear sa akin and it’s a big risk. It’s my bread and butter, I feed my family sa pagkanta ko. Siguro naman ‘yung ganda ng boses hindi mag-iiba, it’s just that baba nang konti,” he said.
Ice also shared that he and Liza are planning to have a baby through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
“At least one [baby] plano namin… Iha-harvest 'yung eggs ko, tapos kapag na-inseminate na siya ng sperm ng sperm donor, ipa-plant kay Liza so hopefully makabuo,” he said. “It takes time. Hopefully next year, makaipon.”
Ice and Liza got married in 2014.
