Coco Martin believes his good friend Vice Ganda deserves to receive the first Comedy King Dolphy Memorial Award given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) on its 66th year.
In a story by PEP yesterday, June 12, the "FPJ's Ang Probinsiyano" lead star said, "Deserving talaga si Vice. Unang-una, talagang pinaghirapan niya 'yan."

Despite the issues surrounding the recognition, Coco shows his full support for the contributions that the Unkabogable Star shared to the entertainment industry.
"Kitang-kita ko at kung may nakakaalam no'n, kaming dalawa. Parehong wala pa kami dito sa showbiz, magkasama na kami, at nasubaybayan namin ang bawat isa," he said.

The "Ang Panday" producer, director, and actor added that he is happy for the both of them who have grown so much in their years in the industry.
He related, "Lahat ng pinaghirapan namin, lahat ng panlalait, 'di sa amin naniniwala and then, ngayon, heto na kahit papaano nabibigyan ng pansin, nare-recognize na. Napakasaya ko para sa aming dalawa."
At the FAMAS Awards night last Sunday, June 10, Vice's mother, Rosario, received the award in place of the former and said in the acceptance speech:
"Labis po kaming nagpapasalamat sa pamilya ng nag-iisang King of Comedy of the Philippines, Mang Dolphy. Sa pagpili sa aking anak bilang kauna-unahang recipient ng Comedy King Dolphy Award.
