Tony Labrusca has reserved the word “Dad” for someone very special to him, and it’s not his biological father Boom.
In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer today, June 11, the rising actor shared that he feels it’s disrespectful to use the word so casually, when it packs so much meaning.
“I just feel that it’s very disrespectful to just give away that name to somebody who just came in to my life only recently when there’s a man who raised me. My stepdad has been around the whole time… He (Boom) and I are like barkada,” he said.
However, Tony stressed that he is thankful for having two fathers in his life, and that he loves them both.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the two of them. I will always have the highest respect for both of them. No matter what has been said, they are both my fathers,” he said.
Tony furthered that being related by blood doesn’t immediately define who your family is.
“I don’t see him (stepdad) other than a father. Sometimes, family is not always about blood relations, but about the bond and the trust that you make with people,” he said.
