Celebrity host Mariel Rodriguez has opened up about her pregnancy weight gain and how much it made her insecure, causing her to hide from the public eye for a while.
In a series of Instagram posts yesterday (May 4) and today (May 5) Mariel chronicled her "super fat" journey after she gave birth to her first child, Isabella Padilla, with husband Robin Padilla.
She used the hashtag #RememberingWhenIWasSUPERFat in all of her posts.
The former "Pinoy Big Brother" host started saying, "Going through old photos of me and Isabella and here are some I couldn’t post because I was super fat!!!"

When Isabella was already six months old, Mariel was afraid to post photos because of how "big" she felt. "I barely posted photos because I really didn’t want people to see how big I got."
Then she explained that her weight gain had something to do with hormonal imbalance. "I had very little milk and I wanted to exclusively breastfeed her (which I did for 14 months) so I ate my way to have milk. It worked for me but my body suffered. No regrets though."
In another post, Mariel wrote, "Here are some of the selfies we took but I couldn’t post because I didn’t want to be cyberbullied for being super fat!"
The first-time mom also admitted that she only had few clothes to wear because of her size. "My biggest/heaviest was when Isabella was about a year old... I was 178lbs! I had to buy new shoes because all my shoes did not fit me anymore because everything got soooo big."
Based on her recent social media posts, Mariel seemed to have already shed some of the pregnancy weight gain.
