Gary V, ibinunyag ang 'wake-up call' bago ang open-heart surgery

Gary Valenciano underwent heart surgery this past weekend and is now recuperating in the hospital.

In a statement released by his wife Angeli via her Instagram Stories last night, May 6, Gary revealed that he first felt something was wrong two weeks ago during his anniversary performance on the Sunday noontime show “ASAP.”

“That performance is one I won’t ever forget. My life from that point would never be the same,” he wrote. “I felt a sensation I’d never felt before - I felt tightness and pain in my chest.”

Mr. Pure Energy then revealed that though his heart is good and strong, one blood vessel - the left anterior descending artery, to be exact - was 95% blocked and had thin walls due to his Type 1 diabetes. His doctors advised that he undergo bypass immediately. But, being the man he is, Gary told everyone not to worry for he was certain God would take care of him.

Do not worry please, only pray,” he wrote.

He furthered, “I know one day soon I will give my all on that stage again, perhaps in my spirit even stronger than ever before. I believe this will be a story to tell people, and yes, it will be another one of God’s amazing faithful, merciful, gracious, and good ways. Let’s not worry, ok? Let’s just be prayerful.”

At the end of his statement, Angeli shared that Gary’s surgery was successful and that he’s now in recovery.
