Vice Ganda once again played the role of a supportive and caring friend when he came to Jaya’s defense on “It’s Showtime” yesterday, May 23.
The Queen of Soul got bashed on social media following the elimination of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” contender Aila Santos. Netizens accused Jaya, who was the head juror, of not voting for Aila.
However, Vice came to her defense and revealed that Jaya actually voted for the eliminated contestant.
“I felt so bad for Miss Jaya. There are a number of Aila fans na bina-bash si Miss Jaya kahapon, and there was no reason for you to bash Miss Jaya kasi… [she] was one of the two judges who voted for Aila,” he said.
Vice continued, “Someone has to stand up for Miss Jaya. I just want to defend her kasi it is not fair for her na bina-bash siya kahapon. Nababasa ko, pinipersonal siya, eh."
Following Vice’s statement, Jaya took to Twitter to thank the comedian for what he did.
“I love you (Vice) for speaking on my behalf,” she wrote. “I’m crying now because I absolutely felt your sincerest love. God bless you my friend.”
Jaya joined the “It’s Showtime” family last 2016.
