"Derek (Ramsay) is born to be a leading man."
Those words came from one of the most bankable leading ladies of today, Bea Alonzo, at the Grand Media Launch of their newest film "Kasal" last last week.
The Movie Queen was asked about her feelings over her reunion project with Derek following the 2006 film "One More Chance" and 2009's "And I Love You So."
"It feels great na makatrabaho uli si Derek kasi siguro meron ibang chemistry rin. 'Yun 'yung nafi-feel ko at least when we do a scene together. Parang nafi-feel ko na ang dali. Ang dali ng lahat and nagkakaintindihan kami," Bea happily related.
She went on to share, "'pag napapanood ko sa monitor 'pag may preview, natutuwa ako kasi sabi ko na-miss ko talaga si Derek sa isang Star Cinema movie."
"Lagi kong sinasabi 'to sa mga past interviews ko na parang si Derek is born to be a leading man. 'Di ba?" Bea stressed.
"The jawline, gwapo, tapos oozing with sex appeal, he's a good actor, so parang may mga tao talagang ganun, born to be an actor, to be a leading man," she added.
Of course, Derek was overwhelmed with Bea's beautiful words for him and reciprocated it.
"I've always said this, Bea knows this, I've always been a big fan of Bea," the Kapamilya Hunk revealed. "For me, I've worked with so many talented leading ladies but I'm not scared to say that for me, Bea is the number one leading lady out there."
The 41-year-old actor then shared how Bea and Direk Ruel S. Bayani play a big part in his career.
"A big part of why I chose to accept this film is that I get to work with Bea again and of course, with my director Ruel who was a big part of my success in films with 'No Other Woman.'
"So nagsama 'yung dalawa and I know may utang ako kay Bea kasi medyo tinakbuhan ko siya last time from a project that we're doing before," Derek said.

"I'm a big fan of Bea," he once again stressed. "How she handles herself on and off cam. She's a smart girl. You see it when she performs, you see it when she talks to you behind the camera, and how she just conducts herself, everything about her, I'm a fan."
In the end, Derek thanked Bea for inspiring him.
"For her to say words like that to me, it motivates me to better myself in this craft and do more projects," he relayed.
Co-starring with Derek and Bea in "Kasal" is Paulo Avelino.
The film follows the story of Lia Marquez (Bea), a simple lass who is set to marry Cebu's most eligible bachelor, Philip Cordero (Paulo), who is currently running to clinch the mayoral position after his father's term ends.
However, things get complicated when Lia's ex-boyfriend, Wado dela Costa (Derek), returns to work for them in a project that will help Philip win the elections.
Inevitably, feelings resurface and doubts arise.
As we get closer to the wedding day, Lia becomes unsure if she is choosing the right man to marry, torn between the man from her past and the man she's building a future with.
This Star Cinema 25th anniversary opener is NOW SHOWING in 210 cinemas nationwide!
