Multi-award winning actor and 80s matinee idol Aga Muhlach took home the Corazon Samaniego Lifetime Achievement Award at the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation's 49th Box Office Awards yesterday, May 20.
Named after the Guillermo Foundation's president for 45 years, the recognition was given to Aga for his priceless contribution and achievements in the film industry.
Optimum Star Claudine Barretto, who was Aga's leading lady in the film "Kailangan Kita," introduced and presented Aga's award.
At only 48 years old, Aga is honored to receive such accolade. In his speech, he thanked the Guillermo Foundation, and mentioned that the younger actors of today inspire him to continue to make films.
Aga also said that he loves making movies, and he values the awards he has gotten throughout the years. But his life's real achievement? His wife. <3
He said, "My greatest achievement in life, really, is finding my wife [Charlene Gonzales]."
Looking at Charlene, he continued, "I mean, you are really my life. I just want to thank you," adding that there were times when he lacks the energy to work but Charlene was there to inspire him.
"You always tell me, 'the people love you, the fans love you, they wait for your movies.' You never stopped, you never surrendered, and I thank you [because of you] I'm still here. I love you very much, you are my greatest achievement, our whole family."
Aga also thanked his viewers, saying, "I do my films dahil po sa inyong lahat."
And today, May 21, Charlene dedicated a post for Aga.
"I am so proud of you but for me, more than the award, your biggest accomplishment is being you. You are truly humble, and one of the kindest persons I know with the utmost love and care for all... ♥️ Congratulations again, B, and to all the winners last night!!! You all are amazing!!!"
Aga also won Film Actor of the Year for "Seven Sundays," an award shared with his co-star Dingdong Dantes.
