Star Cinema big boss Malou Santos may well be the first person who believed in the pairing of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo.
That’s why she took a leap of faith in them via the romantic-comedy movie “A Very Special Love” (2008).
At the beginning, Malou reveals, “nobody believed in the tandem.”
Nevertheless, she didn’t give up on the project, believing that when it comes to love teams, “you create the chemistry.”
She justifies this conviction by citing Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III – two stars whose team-up during the 70s turned into a phenomenon.
Malou was right about John Lloyd and Sarah after all. “A Very Special Love” raked in P179.3 million in the box office and was followed with two more movies, “You Changed My Life” (2009) and “It Takes a Man and a Woman” (2013).
“A Very Special Love” is Sarah and Lloydy’s first movie together after starring in the “MMK” episode “Kwintas.”
