Amy Schumer isn't just funny, she also hopes to be a beacon of hope for people who suffer from insecurity.
In an article for Bustle.com, the comic-actress said that her new comedy "I Feel Pretty" isn't your typical ugly duckling to beautiful swan story. It attempts to address a much deeper problem than that.
She wrote, "One thing that I really want people to realize, especially those who have not yet seen the film, is this isn’t movie about an 'ugly' woman who finds confidence in her personality. It’s about an average woman who really struggles with self-esteem. And that's something we all do."
She continued, "Maybe, just maybe, 'I Feel Pretty' will help people more than they realize. I really hope that they give it a chance and have a good time and laugh and feel a lot better about themselves."
"I Feel Pretty" tells a story of a regular woman who wakes up from a SoulCycle injury thinking she looks like a supermodel. It will hit Philippine theaters tomorrow, May 2.
