Ricci Rivero will no longer be playing for De La Salle University.
The talented guard announced his exit from the Green Archers yesterday, April 5, writing that “good things come to an end.”
“The Animo spirit will always be with me. It’s now time to move forward,” he said.
Before leaving the school, Ricci had a tough offseason after being suspended from the team last January.
According to a report by ABS-CBN News, he was suspended because of his commercial endorsements that might interfere with his training. There were also rumors that he was banned from the team because he failed a drug test.
Ricci has since spoken up about the issue, emotionally denying all the controversies that hounded him.
“Behind these controversies is the same kid, 10 years ago, who just wants to play and shoot that ball,” he wrote in a statement last month. “How I wished things will not be complicated, because all I pray for is simply to provide for my family and my future.”
The star player has yet to announce which school he’ll be playing for next season.
