Why Toni doesn't want Seve to enter showbiz

Kapamilya host Toni Gonzaga is clear with one thing -- if she can have it her way, she wouldn't want her son Seve to enter the entertainment industry.

Seve is her first son with husband, "Kid Kulafu" director Paul Soriano.

"Sabi namin ni Paul, that is something we don’t want to close our doors on, but if it was my opinion and my choice of course I wouldn’t want him to join the business. I would want him to pursue [a] different path or career," she said in a story by PUSH.

Though she is firm with her words, Toni clarified that she wouldn't want to control the future decisions of her son. She said, "Whatever it is that his heart desires, we will just support it fully. But we enroll him to different classes now so para mahanap niya kung saan 'yung interests niya, 'yung passion niya and we will take it from there."

The "Last Night" actress then explained why she prefers Seve to explore a different world.

"I guess because I’ve been here and parang feeling ko all my life, and I’ve been through so much in the industry. I know how it works. I just want him to explore something different," she said.

Baby Seve is gaining popularity in social media. He has an Instagram account (@severianoelliott) of his own, with over 767,000 followers! He has also starred in a number of TV advertisements together with Toni.

Toni admitted that Seve is exposed to the public in his early age. But as much as possible, she and and Paul would like for him to experience the normal life.

"I know it’s hard but we are trying our best to kind of balance it. Yes he’s our son and in a way napunta siya sa limelight. Sana mas malaki 'yung part ng buhay niya na normal siya, normal 'yung childhood niya."

"Parang I don’t want to see my child go through what I’ve been through. Because it’s such a tough business and there’s so much heartaches and pains and exposing him to that. Parang of course as a mother you want to shield him as much as possible. And I want him to grow up in a normal setting, 'yung normal life," she said.

Toni also shared that she and Paul make it a point to always spend time with Seve even if they have a hectic work schedule.

Toni currently hosts the sixth season of "Pilipinas Got Talent" together with Billy Crawford.
