"DOTGA: Da One That Ghost Away" lead actress Kim Chiu has shared with the media about the person who "got away" from her at the Grand Media Launch of her film last April 12.

Her film's title, "Da One That Ghost Away" is a pun on the popular phrase "the one that got away". This urged a question from the media about Kim's "the one that got away" in real life.
The actress answered, "Ang [the one that got away] ko ay ang mama ko. Kasi hindi ko siya nakausap and everything... Nag-ghost away (got away) na lang po siya. Alam naman ng lahat 'yun, na bata pa lang ako nawala na siya."

Kim's parents separated when she was still very young. Years after, Kim met her mother again for the first time, but unfortunately, the latter was already in a coma. She died of brain aneurysm only days after their meeting.

"Tapos nung nagkita kami, coma na siya. Tapos mga after three days, nasa heaven na siya," Kim said.

But Kim was still able to lighten the situation by throwing in a joke, saying, "Kaya 'pag hindi po kayo nanood ng 'DOTGA,' dadalawin niya po kayo."

"DOTGA" starts with the story of paranormal expert Carmel Monseratt (Kim Chiu). Wanting to save the house of her beloved grandmother from being sequestered, Carmel and her “bebest” best friend Jerald “Jeje” Zee-Yan (Ryan Bang) have decided to form a squad of ghost busters with their misfits buddies Bagang (Pepe Herrera), Ponzi (Lassy Marquez), and Basha (Moi Bien) in order to meet both ends.

One day, when they no longer have customers due to their modus going viral, Carmel meets a rich architect and dashing eligible bachelor Jack Colmenares (Enzo Pineda) who wants her and her squad to exorcize his house of all the ghosts inside it – real malevolent ghosts! – in exchange for a hefty amount of money.

Despite the fear, Carmel and Jeje together with their squad accept the job offer as their last act. Little do they know this will lead to all of them being entrapped inside Jack’s house with extremely pesky and spiteful ghosts, screaming and running for their lives, and with Carmel ultimately facing the horror of the truth long hidden from her.

"DOTGA" is directed by Tony Y. Reyes. Catch it today in cinemas nationwide!
