Bianca Manalo has finally spoken up about her near-death experience following a boat accident in Antique during the previous Holy Week.
Speaking to “Red Alert” yesterday, April 11, the beauty queen-actress shared how she thought she was going to die the moment the boat capsized.
“‘Pag taob namin sa water ang unang pumasok sa isip ko, 'Lord mamamatay na ako. ‘Wag naman po,’” she said, adding that she still regrets not wearing a life vest while on the boat.
“Nasa harap lang namin ‘yung life vest. Walang nakaisip sa amin magsuot,” she said.
Bianca further recalled that she was beginning to lose hope after waiting for hours for help to come. Her boyfriend, Antique mayor Jonathan Tan, swam four kilometers to reach the shore.
“Iniisip ko talaga na baka patay na sila. Walang makaka-survive mag-swimming sa ganoong kalakas na current," she related. "So iniisip ko talaga, ‘Lord, naghihintay ba kami sa wala?'”
Bianca continued that the waves and current were so strong that one wrong move could kill them.
“Grabe ‘yung hampas na hindi mo na maayos iyong buhok mo at hindi ka makahinga," she said. "Kapag bumitaw ka para ayusin, wala na. Ganoon kalakas ‘yung current at waves.”
However, Bianca made it a point to keep calm, especially since they had two minors travelling with them.
“I was the calmest one, hindi ako nagpakita ng taranta,” she said. “Noong nakita ko sila, hagulgol. Sigaw na ako nang sigaw. Humagulgol na ako kasi iniisip ko na makikita ko ulit iyong pamilya ko, na buhay ako.”
Bianca was with actress Ehra Madrigal and family when the accident happened. One of their companions Bennie Dable, Mayor Jonathan’s bodyguard, died while waiting for rescue to arrive.
