The Filipino spirit is alive in KZ Tandingan.
KZ has been manifesting her world-class talent in the China-based singing competition "Singer 2018" -- and if given the chance, she'd like to perform an OPM song in the future.
Last February, she became an official contestant on the show when she beat Jessie J to the top spot, singing Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." In the following weeks, she sang a Chinese medley, then her own version of "Say Something" by A Great Big World, then an interpretation "Real Gone," the theme song of the animated movie "Cars".
Moving forward in the competition, what would KZ like to perform next?
In a story by PUSH today, March 6, KZ revealed that she'd like to do a Chinese version of the Freddie Aguilar classic "Anak".
KZ said, "Kasi aside from it’s one of the most beautiful OPM songs ever written, sobrang sikat din kasi siya sa China, so kung kakantahin ko man siya, lalo nilang maiintindihan kasi alam nila ang kanta."
"And alam mo ‘yun nakaka-proud na may OPM song na sobrang sikat sa ibang bansa na kung hindi nila trinanslate, hindi nila maiintindihan 'di ba? Kumbaga nagkaroon ng connection ang ibang lahi sa kanta ng mga Pinoy," she continued.
KZ currently ranks fifth in "Singer 2018".
