Anne, nagbenta ng basahan!

National Sweetheart Anne Curtis traded places with a family of vendors to treat them with a much-deserved day of feasts and relaxation, while she took on their job as a street vendor of handmade rags (“basahan”) for the Holy Week special of “It’s Showtime”.

The award-winning actress shared the full experience on the noontime show last Tuesday, March 26, with a deeper understanding of how hard it really is to sell goods in a harsh and busy environment just so they could provide for their family.

For the task, she had to put on a disguise as she didn’t want people to buy from her just because she is a celebrity. As expected, it didn’t turn out easy.

As in hindi ka titignan. Hindi man lang ia-acknowledge na nandun ka,” said Anne.

“Parang at one point sabi ko nakakaiyak ‘to. Dun ko na-realize how hard it is, kasi ‘yun lang ‘yung way of them to have a living.

The Kapamilya star really had to talk her way into selling the rags, but she admitted feeling like she was failing almost made her breakdown. “At one point, gusto ko nang umiyak. Kasi ito ang nangyayari sa kanila.”

She continued, “On a daily basis kasi ang kinikita lang nila P300, maswerte ako nung bandang huli medyo nakikilala na ko nang konti.

From her spot on the footbridge, the host was forced to move close to where the passing cars were.

At the end of it all, Anne was left an important realization that she would forever take with her everywhere. “We take it for granted, hindi na natin pinapansin ‘yung mga kumakatok. Iba na ‘yung ano ko ngayon. ‘Sige na, bili tayo. Tatlo sampung piso.
