After years of doing romantic comedies, Kapamilya stars Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano have spoken about their first fantaserye project “Bagani” on Magandang Buhay today, March 2.
“It’s something new, something exciting, something fresh also for the young people,” Enrique said.
“I see a lot of kids na kinikilig at such a young age - it’s not bad, but you know, parang it’s also good to incite other stuff, something they can learn [like] courage, [or] ‘you can be a hero,’” he continued. “That’s what we want to instill sa mga kabataan po ngayon - anybody can be a hero.”
“Bagani” tells the story of five individuals - Lakas, Ganda, Lakam (Matteo Guidicelli), Dumakulem (Makisig Morales), and Mayari (Sofia Andres) - “who were bestowed upon powers because of the goodness of their hearts, their willingness to sacrifice live para sa ikabubuti ng lahat,” as explained by Liza.
“Anybody can make a difference. Anybody can do good and be a hero. It doesn’t matter who you are,” Enrique added, noting that is the message their upcoming show wants to send out.
The two admitted to feeling pressure as they are leading the cast of this big project.
“First time po [kasi] namin gumawa ng ganitong klaseng genre,” the actor said. “Hanggang ngayon, naninibago pa rin ako sa set, sa mga lines, sa Tagalog po namin na medyo malalim. It’s more challenging, [but] it feels good.”
Liza shared that she’s still having difficulty with her lines because of the way it’s written.
“Ako kasi, talagang ilang beses ko basahin ‘yung lines bago ako mag-take. Medyo nakukuha ko naman,” she said. “Sobrang lalim po talaga, as in hindi siya ginagamit sa regular day.”
Enrique furthered, “Minsan kasi, hindi sa lalim ng Tagalog, [pero dun] sa construction. Parang iba, parang makata. Hindi siya natural ‘yung pagbigkas, hindi siya flowy.”
“So minsan ‘yung tono din namin, kung paano namin sabihin mali,” the actress added.
When asked what’s the hardest thing about “Bagani,” Enrique answered, “‘Yung mga fight scenes po. Espada kasi. ‘Pag nagkamali ka ng count, tatamaan ka talaga.”
It may be recalled that he and Matteo have accidentally hurt each other while filming a scene.
Liza, on the other hand, finds using the green or blue screen in scenes more difficult.
“Ako po, ‘yung pinakamahirap ‘yung mga chroma kasi parang kailangan mong maging imaginative,” she said. “You have to think na may nakikita ka, pero ang totoo, wala kang nakikita. Ang hirap wala kang nakikita.”
“Bagani” premieres this March 5 on Primetime Bida after “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”!
