We sat down with Gerald Anderson, the star of the new film "Can We Still Be Friends?", last June 6 and asked him about the immensely difficult task of choosing between his career and his love life.

"Dati kinakahiya ko pa 'yun, pero ngayon tanggap ko. Mahal na mahal ko 'yung ginagawa ko, sobrang passionate ako sa ginagawa ko dito sa business na 'to and that's why as a person, naaapektuhan ako, naaapektuhan 'yung personal life ko, naapektuhan 'yung private life ko kasi ganoon siya ka-importante para sa akin."
 
"Dati iniisip ko, 'Anong klaseng tao ako ang sama sama ko naman bakit mas iniisip ko 'yung livelihood ko?' But after a while na-realize ko kung bakit ganoon siya importante, siyempre kasi naibibigay ko 'yung gusto ng pamilya ko kung may kailangan sila, this gives me fulfillment."
 
"Hindi ko 'yan ipagpapalit sa kahit ano sa ngayon, that's why napapabayaan minsan 'yung love and 'yung taong mahal mo and mahal ka rin so nagiging unfair ka, nagiging selfish ka."
 
He continued, "Sa ngayon hindi ko pa alam eh, I think darating 'yung araw na okay na, next level, next stage of my life...na 'yung relationship, 'yung partner ko, 'yung marriage, 'yun 'yung magbibigay sa akin ng fulfillment na binibigay sa akin ng trabaho ko ngayon."
 
"But right now, 'yung goals ko as a person, 'yung ibang nasa bucketlist ko, 'yung livelihood ko, 'yung trabaho ko, 'yun 'yung top priority ko ngayon."
