Thought Picks: She wanders for the soul
By Jodi Sta. Maria

When you travel, nandoon talaga ‘yung time na nakakapag-isip ka.

Hindi mo lang nae-enjoy ‘yung mga bagay na nakikita mo, pero siguro dahil you’re away from distractions parang nakaka-focus ka talaga doon sa mga bagay, and magkakaroon ka na lang ng parang reflection or light bulb moment, or a realization.

Mga life lessons na mga bagay na nakikita ko during my trip. Every single thing na nakikita ko, nagiging metaphorical siya for me.

For example, this bamboo forest sa Arashiyama sa Japan na pinuntahan ko. ‘Pag nandito ako sa Philippines, sometimes parang taken for granted lang ‘yung bamboo. Madami lang. Nandiyan lang siya.

Pero I realized ‘nung nandoon ako napaka-resilient ng isang bamboo tree.

It’s so strong, na kahit anong ibato sa kanya, may dumating na unos sa buhay ng bamboo tree, it does not break, but it will only bend.

Sumasabay lang sa siya sa rhythm mo, ‘kung anong ibigay sa kanya.

Na-realize ko in our life, we can be a bamboo tree also. When we are faced with struggles or storms in our lives, we can just bend or sway with the rhythm, whatever life throws at us. But ang importante is that we do not break.

So ‘yun ‘yung isa sa mga na-realize ko. And how it important it is to really have balance in our lives.
Each experience talaga, whether good or bad, will always serve a purpose.
