Kapamilya actor Tony Labrusca clarified at the Star Magic Circle 2018 launch that he has no hard feelings towards his biological father Boom Labrusca.
“Why would I feel the need to be angry with him?" he said in a report by PUSH. "I mean, sometimes in life people just go through things. They gotta go through it. You know what I mean? It doesn't mean my father hated me. It doesn't mean he didn't love me. It just meant that at that time, he was going through something and I don't need to hate him for it 'cause growing up, I think I'm fine.”
Tony went on to share that he has an older brother with his biological father whom he loves very much and that this brother served as a bridge between him and Boom to mend their relationship.
Having grown up with his mother Angel Jones and his stepfamily in Canada, the former “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” contestant revealed that he never really looked for his biological dad.
"Growing up with my mother, hindi po siya nagkulang sa pagbibigay ng [pagma]mahal sa akin,” Tony said. “Hindi ko siya (Boom) hinanap kasi my mother and my stepfather gave me enough love and care.”
“In Filipino culture, even if it's not our biological parents, we treat them as our family,” he continued. “Family, it doesn't always mean blood. Family is trust and it's that love and that connection you build with somebody."
Tony sees his relationship with Boom now as a blessing, looking up to him as a mentor of sorts when it comes to showbiz.
“I just took it as a blessing as well kasi he's been in the industry for so long, so there's a lot of things that I can learn from him,” he said. “And so instead of me na kino-compare ko 'yung sarili ko sa kanya, I never even thought of maybe like 'Oh, I have to surpass my father' or 'What if people compare me to him?' kasi this is my lane. All I have to do is stay in my lane.”
Tony was most recently part of the primetime fantaserye “La Luna Sangre” as a wolf member of La Liga Unida. Boom was also briefly on the show as a vampire in Supremo’s ranks.
