“In this very divisive society, I hope you will lead the country in finding commonalities that will bring us all together. Be kind, always.”
That was what Ice Seguerra, formerly known as Aiza Seguerra, said to the youth in a Facebook post today, March 13.
Earlier today, he announced his resignation as chairperson of the National Youth Commission (NYC) effective April 5.
“I thank President Duterte for his full support and understanding of my decision,” he said in interview with ABS-CBN News.
It can be recalled that Ice together with his wife, Liza Dino (currently the head of the Film Development Council of the Philippines), supported the president during his campaign almost two years ago.
Expressing his gratitude to the chief executive, Ice also wrote on Facebook:
“He was very understanding and supportive of my decision. Para siyang tatay. Nakinig, inintindi at pinalakas ang loob ko. I told him how much I valued his trust and how this experience made me appreciate public service and our public servants.”
The "Pagdating ng Panahon" hitmaker formally handed out his resignation last March 5, citing "personal reasons." He also mentioned that he will be resuming his career in music, while still supporting NYC.
“Thank you for believing in me and for making my chairmanship, as short as it may have been, one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life,” he also said in his Facebook post.
Ice was appointed by the Malacañan last August 2016. He was supposed to serve for three years until 2019.
