With her acting comeback well underway, Pia Wurtzbach wants to prove that she really deserves everything she has now.
At the “My Perfect You” Media Launch last March 10, the beauty queen-actress shared that she wants people to know how much she worked hard to bag the lead role - nothing was given to her for free.
“Gusto ko kasing galingan talaga… and I want people to see that I’m trying. I’m really really trying,” she said. “I’m not just doing it kasi parang komportable ako na, ‘Ay. Okay lang ‘yan. Tatanggapin naman nila dahil Miss Universe naman.’ Hindi… Kailangan na-earn ko siya.”
Pia also grew emotional when she looked back at how far she’s come - she’s dreamed of being an actress for 16 years, and it’s finally coming true.
“I can say that before Miss Universe, this was my first dream… magkaroon ng lead role, magkaroon ng movie… Since 2002. Mga 16 years of coming in and out of showbiz,” she said.
She further related that she now understands why she had to fail so many times before.
“Now I understand [I had], to go [through] all of those challenges and pagkatalo kasi dadating din pala at the right time, so I’m so happy… Everything falls into place talaga,” she said.
And even if the film’s premiere is only a few days away, Pia admitted it’s still very surreal for her.
“Nung nakita ko ‘yung malaking billboard namin, sabi ko, ‘Never did I imagine na makikita ko ‘yung sarili ko diyan… As in… Oh my god. Andiyan ako,” she said.
“My Perfect You” also stars Gerald Anderson. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and produced by ABS-CBN Films, Star Cinema, it opens in cinemas March 14.
