It’s fascinating how easy it is to fall in love. What’s even more impressive is how couples manage and choose to stay in love.
Gladys Reyes and husband Christopher Roxas has been at it for 25 years already. Wow, right? Talk about major #CoupleGoals.
But just like most couples, they went through a rough patch early in their relationship and they almost didn’t make it.
“The seven-year itch,” as everyone calls it and not even these two were spared. They met as pre-teens and fell in love on the set of “Mara Clara” in 1992.
Right then, Gladys and Christopher believed they were meant for each other. But seven years after, something got into Christopher and suddenly wanted to know what it feels like to be single.
"Gusto ko lang masubukan 'yong buhay-binata na nawala kasi masyado kaming maagang napunta sa relationship,” he revealed on the “ASAP” segment “TLC” last Sunday, January 4.
So Gladys gave him what he wanted and readied herself to let him go. "Ako naman dapat may closure 'to. So I decided to call him. 'Hello, I just wanted to say goodbye.'"
He replied, "Huh? Bakit sa'n ka pupunta?” But soon enough, Christopher realized that he just couldn’t let the love of his life slip away. So bumalik ako."
"He arrived sa house. Umuulan, parang taping.
11 years in and they’re tying the knot. 14 years more and here they are with four beautiful kids. But life’s no fairytale. Gladys and Christopher still have their moments, but nothing strong enough to break down their faith to each other.
Pero kapag nanaig 'yong faith ninyo, kailangan i-work out natin ito," said Gladys.
Last January, Gladys and Christopher celebrated their 25th anniversary with a “reaffirmation of vows” in a ceremony attended by their closest friends including her real-life bestie and “Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes” co-star Judy Ann Santos, Claudine Barretto, Jolina Magdangal, and more.
