It's not everyday that we get to know what our Kapamilya artists think of the hottest love teams today, so when we get the chance, we let them right away tell theirs – through personal pick of music!
In an exclusive interview with singer-actor Marlo Mortel last Saturday, February 24, we asked him on what song he can dedicate to your favorite love teams, which you can then add to your own curated playlist! Prepare to be in love with these series of love song dedications from Marlo:
Every KathNiel fan out there would surely agree when Marlo picked Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” for the Kapamilya’s Box Office King and Queen. Sino nga ba namang hindi mapapakanta ng “I don’t deserve this, you look perfect” kung kasing beautiful and sweet ni Kathryn Bernardo ang kapareha, ‘di ba? <3
Isang cover naman d’yan, Daniel Padilla!
Daryl Ong’s “Stay” is what comes to Marlo’s mind when he thinks of the real-life couple James Reid and Nadine Lustre, possibly because the track was used in the teleserye where they starred back in 2015. Although the song was used mainly when the two parted ways in the teleserye, it pretty much speaks on how we want them to stay and never go away from each other.
Marlo picked his personal favorite song, Jack Johnson’s “Better Together” for “Bagani” stars Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. Well, it really looks like whatever it is Liza or Quen plans to do, everything somehow ends up better when they actually do it together! *coughs* out-of-town travels *coughs*
For showbiz newbies Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber, Sam Concepcion’s “Mahal na Mahal” is the song he dedicates for the two. He said it perfectly suits them especially with the lyrics that say, “Kung may taong dapat na mahalin ay walang iba kung 'di ikaw” and we couldn’t agree more!
Is it just us or we could already imagine how Edward will sing this for Maymay? Kilig! <3
Marlo personally thinks that Joshua Garcia and Julia Baretto are God-sent for each other that he immediately picked Mariah Carey’s “Thank God I Found You.” The two are very much vocal about their love and appreciation for each other and we can’t wait for what God’s plans are for this very in-demand love team today!
Imago’s “Sundo” was the first song that popped into Marlo’s mind for McCoy De Leon and Elisse’s Joson’s team-up, perhaps because it’s the theme song of “The Good Son,” the teleserye where the two currently star.
As the lyrics goes, “Kay tagal kong sinusuyod ang buong mundo para hanapin, para hanapin ka…” sounds like something McCoy would say to his Lablab, right? :”>
Being a good friend of both Maris Racal and Inigo Pascual, Marlo giddily answered the former’s “Tala” because he thought the song’s message was really perfect for Maris’ Papapeh Inigo. Although the song is actually about a girl who won’t let go of the dream she’s long been chasing, the song could actually double as a love song too!
“Ikaw ang aking tala na matagal kong hinanap, abot-kamay ko na...” why does this part seem to speak of Inigo din?! Mamameh ha! <3
And for ElNella, it looks like they’ve got Marlo’s full support (we’re all about love, love, love here, guys!) as he picked Yeng Constantino and RJ Jimenez’s “If We Fall In Love.”
“Maybe we'll sing this song as one kasi ‘di ba as time went by, super naging close sila, super nag-jive sila, and they love each other. I'm happy for them!” Such kind words from Marlo!
Here’s McLisse’s version of the song:
