KZ Tandingan lifted herself up all the way to the fourth spot this week on the seventh round of the international singing competition “Singer 2018,” from placing sixth on last week’s episode.
The country’s Soul Supreme performed the A Great Big World hit “Say Something” with her guitarist Macoy Portado, who had to fly to China at the last minute when producers of the show asked KZ to change her song choice from the Filipino-arranged “Come Together” to something that’s more popular with the Chinese audience.
In a report by Push, KZ revealed that she and Macoy only got to rehearse together on the same day the episode was recorded. Because of it, the “X Factor Philippines” grand winner actually thought she would place a lot lower.
The audience didn't applaud as loud as they did on her last performance, so she was really shocked when the results were announced this week.
“Medyo nagulat!” she told ABS-CBN’s MJ Felipe. “’Yung reaction ng mga tao noong nag-Mandarin ako, parang mas maingay, compared doon sa 'Say Something' na performance, so feeling ko, 'Oh my gosh, baka mas mababa sa rank six 'yung ranking ko.' Sobrang unpredictable talaga eh.”
Little did she know, some audience members were actually in tears while she was giving that dramatic performance!
