For Tom Rodriguez, there’s only one thing to do if you’re torn between two lovers.
Make up your mind and choose. Or risk losing all, including yourself.
“Siyempre you have to choose. We’re all people here. We can’t play with other people’s emotions,” said the “The Significant Other” leading man.
He said once you feel the need to be with someone else, you should pause for a moment and ask yourself some important questions. “You wouldn’t wanna lead someone on, you wouldn’t wanna string someone up. Just own up to it. Before pa mag-escalate or lumala pa lalo, nip it in the bud.”
“Siguro kailangan nila mag-self-reflect, tanungin nila sa sarili nila, ‘Bakit ako nasa sitwasyon na ganito?’ Dahil ba sa ego? Dahil ba sa pressure sa trabaho, pressure sa pamilya? Dahil ba hindi ko na mahal ‘yung asawa ko?’ Kasi baka sa umpisa baka hindi ko na mahal ‘yung partner ko, baka hindi pala. Baka may pagkukulang ka lang sa sarili mo. Maybe deflated ego that you’re trying to mask in another way. May gano’n eh,” Tom added.
He knows that no two hearts are the same, all he wants everyone to remember is you have to be responsible for your own feeling and should know the right way of dealing with it.
“I can’t generalize. So sa akin lang, kung anuman ‘yung rason mo, take care of it. Handle it na you’re not hurting other people as well. So when you’re with your partner and you guys end it or work it out and build on what you guys have that’s something that you will have to do,” said Tom.
The former Kapamilya actor added, “Pero ‘yung itatago mo and you’re just gonna keep it a secret to them, you’re living these lives, I don’t think that could be healthy in any other way.”
Some may also think it’s all fun and games, but all players will run out of extra lives in the end. “Siguro sa umpisa okay, pero eventually it’ll destroy you.”
Also starring Erich Gonzales and Lovi Poe, “The Significant Other” follows the story of a rising fashion model (Erich) who catches up and becomes BFFs with her catwalk idol (Lovi). But all hell breaks loose when they realize that they are in love with the same man (Tom).
