Actress Maricar Reyes-Poon admitted on “Magandang Buhay” last February 20 that she indeed felt pressured to have a baby.
She and her husband, famed crooner Richard Poon, have been married for over four years now, but have yet to have a child. Maricar revealed that she mostly felt the pressure, not from her husband, but from other people.
“Ang dami mong naririnig sa paligid,” she said.
She said even comments on Instagram make her feel pressured.
“I love that they are praying for me,” she continued to say. “Actually ang heart nila, naiintindihan ko, is positive. Pero minsan mayroong, 'Wait lang, don't pressure me.' Pero na-appreciate ko ang mga tao that are wishing well for me sa area na ‘yun.”
The “La Luna Sangre” actress shared that when she and Richard first tried to have kids, they went to the doctor for a full workup but were stumped to hear that everything was fine.
“Pati 'yung doktor, hindi rin siya sure kung bakit hindi [ako nabubuntis],” she said. “So noong narinig ko 'yun, tapos ang daming sina-suggest na kung anu-ano ang gagawin ko. Sorry ha, pero noong pinag-pray namin, parang we don't feel the need to do that yet.”
Maricar is very thankful that she and Richard don’t pressure each other to have children. She shared that they’re currently committed to being as healthy as can be to be ready for children in the future.
"We feel like that's our part, 'yun 'yung duty,” she said. “Siyempre baby 'yan - a baby is a life and life is given by God. So at least ang magagawa ko ay 'yung part ko na [to] stay healthy."
Despite the pressure she’s been feeling, she and Richard are both still content to wait until the right time.
“May peace kami ngayon na if it comes, it comes. If it doesn't, we will wait,” she said.
She furthered, “Mag-pray kayo and establish your relationship with God. You know it will come at the right time, in His time, kasi siya naman ang may alam kung kailan talaga siya perfect for you."
Maricar was part of the primetime fantaserye “La Luna Sangre” where she played the vampire Samantha Imperial, reprising her role from “Imortal.”
