Some things are just way too good to let go of. Especially if you already have it right in the palm of your hands.
That’s how Lovi Poe felt like when she got a hold of the script of the film “The Significant Other”, which doesn’t usually happen to her with other projects.
“Tuluy-tuloy ako while reading the script. Usually, ‘Ah, I’ll take a break first.’ But this one, I was reading the whole time so you guys should watch it,” she at the bloggers conference for the film last February 15.
Her co-star Tom Rodriguez feels the same and was completely impressed over its unique storytelling.
“I’m happy na sila Sir Eric [Ramos], how they wrote this story, the choices that [the characters] make, these tropes exist for a reason. They’ve been explored by plenty other people, pero ‘yung gusto ko na ginawa nila, even with an existing trope, the narrative devices that they employed, ang galing. From the opening scene pa lang, I was taken away by it,” said the former “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” housemate.
He also appreciated the fact the film tells a relevant story, that may seem familiar to many, but still needs to be tackled anyway.
“The fact na nangyayari pa rin siya, it’s still prominent in our society means that the discussion hasn’t been exhausted yet. The fact na nasa public consciousness pa din siya, it means it should be explored and we should have movies like these para mas mapag-usapan pa siya and we could really learn,” Tom explained.
Also starring Erich Gonzales, “The Significant Other” follows the story of a rising fashion model (Erich) who catches up and becomes BFFs with her catwalk idol (Lovi). But all hell breaks loose when they realize that they are in love with the same man (Tom).
