The search for songs that fit our beloved Kapamilya love teams continues!
In an exclusive interview with singer Daryl Ong after his contract signing with Star Music last February 21, we asked him what songs he would dedicate to the hottest love teams of this generation.
You guys ready to listen to Daryl’s “love team playlist”? ;)
“Ang KathNiel, pang-forever ‘yan eh,” Daryl said about “La Luna Sangre” stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla before landing on his version of “Ikaw Na Nga” as his song choice for them.
Pang-forever talaga! <3
Daryl immediately answered “Forevermore” as his choice for the team-up of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, possibly because they starred in a teleserye of the same name back in 2014.
Aaaww, the feels!
For James Reid and Nadine Lustre, Daryl struggled a bit as the song he had in mind was rather sad and was used in their teleserye "On The Wings of Love."
“Mahirap kasi ang kumunekta sa ‘kin na kanta with JaDine is ‘yung ‘Stay,’ which is ‘yung pang-heartbroken,” he said. He ultimately stuck with his choice, jesting, “Since marami naman silang fans na mahilig magbabad sa pagiging heartbroken.”
Masakit nga </3
“Ngayon Hanggang Wakas,” a song written by Daryl’s manager and mentor Vehnee Saturno, was his choice for the pairing of McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson as he used this song for the duo’s stint in the primetime series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
The lyrics go, “Ikaw ang bawat kong pangarap, na sadyang walang katulad, isang pag-ibig na kailanman ay hindi magwawakas.” Feels like McLisse!
Daryl stuck with an Inigo Pascual favorite, “Dahil Sa ‘Yo,” as his choice for the young singer’s love team with actress Maris Racal.
“Araw-araw ikaw ang gusto kong kasama, buhay ko'y kumpleto na tuwing nandidito ka.” Well, Inigo did say he thought of Maris as his soulmate! <3
Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber’s pairing was given one of Daryl’s own songs, “Hopeless Romantic.”
“Medyo kalog kasi ‘yung kanta na ‘yun, so mas bagay sa personality ni Maymay,” he said.
Agree ba kayo, MayWard fans?
“Pansin ko sa JoshLia, lagi silang magkatabi sa mga event, lagi silang dikit na dikit,” he observed before choosing “Basta’t Kasama Kita” for Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto’s pairing.
Oo nga, lagi silang magkasama!
And lastly, for Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador, Daryl chose the classic “How Did You Know.”
In fairness, this also reminds us of the "red string"! <3
