Rumors are nothing but distractions to Tom Rodriguez, so he chooses not to pay any attention to them at all.
Instead, he spends his time doing what he naturally loves and just let himself be.
“With stuff like that, out of sight, out of mind. When I’m drawing or when I’m doing my weird stuff, I’m in a bubble,” Tom told us in an exclusive interview.
It comes almost like an impulse to him whenever he’s resting or even when he’s nervous. “I do it almost automatically, ‘yung sketching or writing, where you just let your hands do what they want and they kind of reset you.”
But Tom isn’t totally the kind that would rather sit at home with his sketchpad on weekends. He still likes to go out and talk to people, something he’s grown to love since he became an actor.
“That’s the weird thing about this job, it indulges both my sides. ‘Yung introvert and extrovert parts ko. When I’m out, I’m forced to socialize with people. When I’m at home, I can slip back in my cocoon. I think it’s a nice balance,” he shared.
Of course, that’s not the only thing he has adapted from his career. He has picked up some things that even changed the way he showers.
Tom added, “I owe it to this industry, kasi lahat naman ng ginagawa ko ngayon hindi naman parte ng buhay ko dati. Singing, acting, all of these that I use as a way of self-expression, lahat ‘yun. Now, I sing in the shower, when I’m bored, definitely ang dami kong na-pick up na habit.”
Catch more of Tom in the upcoming drama “The Significant Other” with Erich Gonzales and Lovi Poe in cinemas this February 21.
Directed by Joel Lamangan, the film follows the story of a rising fashion model (Erich) who catches up and becomes BFFs with her catwalk idol (Lovi). But all hell breaks loose when they realize that they are in love with the same man (Tom).
