It’s been nine years since Tom Rodriguez joined “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” and a lot of good things has happened to him since, especially in his career.
He has grown so much as a man and he owes a lot of that from the reality show. In an exclusive interview, the former Kapamilya actor shared that being on it was his first step to manhood and he thanked Kuya himself for that.
“Kuya, thank you. I went into his house, I was a kid. I just turned 22 years old and now I'm 30 years old. I think I've grown up a lot. I thought I was an adult. My brain, 'I was a man. I was an adult.' Little did I know that I would grow a lot more growing up and I'm so happy. That was the catalyst of it. If I didn't go inside, I wouldn't begin the process of self-discovery. I'm very happy,” Tom said.
Just being inside the house was his favorite memory from it and treating complete strangers like family. "I put aside that it was a competition, that I was on TV, I just really immersed that these really are just my family and I'm gonna try to do my best to provide for them, gano'n 'yung thinking ko. It was a nice camaraderie that in the beginning pa lang they enforced."
He also revealed that he has kept in touch with some of his former housemates and it gives him joy seeing them grow in their own careers as well.
"It warms my heart when I see them doing so well. It gets you nostalgic and at the same time, it makes you so proud. When I see sila Isay (Melai Cantiveros), sila Jason (Francisco), sila Paul Jake (Castillo). Ang sarap,” said Tom.
