2018 is a big year for Jed Madela because it marks his 15th year in showbiz.
"I can't believe na it has been 15 years. Ang bilis," Jed Madela happily shared on his "Tonight With Boy Abunda" guesting last night, February 12.
The Filipino recording artist then recalled the time when his dad JC Roy Tajanlangit was still against his decision to join the entertainment world.
"I had to prove to him na I was meant for the business talaga. To make the long story short, my Tita kinda stole me from him. Ninakaw ako sa Iloilo. I was here [in Manila] supposedly to be a flight attendant. Parang nakita ng tita ko na hindi bukal sa loob ko maging FA. So sabi niya, 'what do you want to be ba talaga?' Sabi ko 'I want to sing pero paano si Daddy?' Ayaw ni Daddy eh. So sabi ng tita ko siya bahala," Jed related.
"We talked to him. Sabi ko 'give me one year. If nothing happens to me in a year, I'll do whatever you want.' Pressure talaga," he added.
So what could be his dad's reason behind his disagreement?
"He had this idea na syempre siguro 'yung stability, kailangan 9 to 5 job," Jed explained. "'Pag nasa showbiz ka tapos wala kang show, walang kang raket, wala kang pera."
Nonetheless, past is definitely past because what matters now is the present.
"Mas kabisado pa niya ang schedules ko kesa sa'kin. Even now if you see his FB acocunt, mas organized 'yung photos niya, 'yung albums niya," Jed happily shared.
He will forever be grateful for the chance his father gave him.
"There was a time when he talked to me, we were in a cafe, he told me na 'I see you are really born for this industry.' 'Yun. A big load was taken out of my back," Jed relayed.
Jed's career started in 2003 when he joined "Voice of Asia" and emerged as the Best Voice of Asia Male Singer of Year. He was also honored with People's Choice Award and Sponsor's Choice.
