Vice opens up about ‘excruciating’ kidney disease

Vice Ganda felt like he was dying. He was sure of it when a sharp excruciating pain suddenly hit him one Friday afternoon on his way home from the set of “It’s Showtime”. He was in such a pain that he could not even mutter words to cry for help.

"Nung naranasan ko 'to two Fridays ago, sobrang sakit. As in masakit na masakit, 1,000% agad. Pagsigaw ko 'yung staff ko natutulog sa harapan ko, humingi ako ng tulong pero walang lumalabas sa bibig ko,” he shared on “It’s Showtime” today, February 12, marking his return to the program after days of confinement and recovery from ureteral colic.

The Phenomenal Box Office Star added, "Kasi kapag nilalaksan ko lalong sumasakit. As in ang sakit-sakit sobra.

It turns out, he had multiple kidney stones in both left and right kidneys. So, he was given some morphine when he got to the hospital, but it was no match to what he was feeling.

In that moment, Vice realized something that gave him courage to fight the pain. “Doon ako na-realize na, 'My God I cannot die. I don't want to die.' Hindi sa ayaw ko, I don't want to die kasi ang sarap ng buhay. Ang sarap ng buhay.”

While recovering, Vice resorted to binge-watching series on Netflix and what really stuck with him was the mystery teen drama “13 Reasons Why”.

“The entire week nanonood ako ng Netflix. The Revenger Squad” lead star said.

The show reminded him of the things that make him get up every morning and how good life really is. Kaya let's embrace our lives, enjoy our blessings sa pinakamaliit hanggang sa pinakamalaki at magpasalamat tayo araw-araw.”
