Filipino pride sure is on a high right now as our very own Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan just took the number one spot on the Chinese singing competition “Singer 2018”, replacing British pop star Jessie J.
The “Price Tag” hit-maker kept the first place for the first three episodes of the show until the Pinay vocal powerhouse was introduced and dethroned her with a rendition of “Rolling In The Deep”. Meanwhile, Jessie placed second with her own version of “Ain’t Nobody.
Before it was aired, a teaser was released with a clip of Jessie giving KZ the “I’m watching you” sign and said, “You have a big voice, girl. Ready to sing?”
When the announcement was made, however, Jessie was the first to give a hug which brought the “The X Factor Philippines” champion to tears.
KZ is moving to the next round while a new challenger will be introduced on the next episode. But before that, catch her winning perfomance here:
“Singer 2018” gathers professional singers all over the world and apart from Jessie and KZ, this season also includes Tien Chong from Hong Kong, Angela Chang from Taiwan; Li Xiaodong, Wang Feng, James Li and Juno Su all from China.
